Attorney Constance R. Somers
Constance R. Somers has been representing Social Security and SSI disability clients since receiving her law license in 1981, and she has limited her practice to that field since 1990. This certification is recognized by the American Bar Association and is the only type of certification for Social Security disability attorneys in the state of Texas.
Education
She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in 1972 and got her law degree from St. Mary's University in 1980. She had the distinction of scoring the highest score on the Texas Bar Exam in the summer of 1981 and has been practicing law ever since. She has had a solo practice since 1985.
In 2008, she began handling cases in the Colorado Springs and Woodland Park areas of Colorado, as well as in San Antonio and south Texas.

Constance R. Somers has been a sustaining member of the National Board of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) since 1985, and has been a member, and former board member, of the 5th Circuit Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (FOSSCR) since its inception in 1993. Ms. Somers has been a speaker at both FOSSCR and NOSSCR conferences over the years and published several papers in their conference handbooks, most recently a scholarly article entitled "Education Issues Under the Grids" in FOSSCR's 13th Annual Conference handbook in 2006.
